Terms & Conditions

LAST UPDATED: 13 JUNE 2025 · EFFECTIVE DATE: 13 JUNE 2025

1. Definitions

In these Terms and Conditions, the following terms have the meanings set out below:

2. Acceptance of Terms

By using our website or engaging our services, you confirm that you are at least 18 years of age, have the legal capacity to enter into a binding agreement, and accept these Terms and Conditions in full. If you are submitting a timepiece on behalf of another party, you confirm that you are authorised to do so and that these terms bind that party.

3. Service Description

Cogwright offers three categories of watch repair and timepiece care: Everyday Timepiece Care (battery, seals, exterior cleaning), Full Mechanical Servicing (complete movement overhaul and regulation), and Vintage & Heirloom Restoration (part-by-part restoration with component sourcing). Full descriptions are available on our Solutions page.

Services are carried out at our Kuala Lumpur workshop. We do not offer postal intake for repair work. Services are available to clients who are able to deposit and collect their timepiece in person or through a designated representative.

4. Service Intake and Scope Agreement

No work is carried out without prior agreement on scope and estimated cost. Upon receiving a timepiece, we prepare a written condition assessment. This document outlines what we have found and what we propose to do. Work proceeds only once the Client has confirmed acceptance of the stated scope.

If, during the course of work, we discover issues not identified in the initial assessment that would affect the cost or timeline, we will contact the Client before proceeding. Additional work requires explicit Client approval. We will not carry out work beyond the agreed scope without this approval.

5. Turnaround Times

Estimated turnaround times are provided at intake as a reasonable guide rather than a firm commitment. Actual timelines may vary depending on the condition of the piece, the availability of parts for vintage work, and workshop scheduling. We will communicate any significant changes to the estimated timeline during the service period.

6. Pricing and Payment

All prices are quoted in Malaysian Ringgit (MYR). Starting prices for each service tier are published on our website. The final cost is confirmed following the initial assessment and agreed before work begins. Payment is due on collection of the timepiece. We accept cash and common electronic payment methods available at the workshop.

If a Client declines to proceed after an assessment has been carried out, a nominal assessment fee may apply to cover the time and materials used. This will be communicated to the Client at the time of deposit.

7. Client Responsibilities

Clients are responsible for:

8. Intellectual Property

All content on the Cogwright website, including text, design, and images, is owned by or licensed to Cogwright. You may not reproduce, copy, or distribute any part of the website for commercial purposes without our written consent. Viewing and using the website for personal, non-commercial purposes is permitted.

9. Limitation of Liability

Cogwright carries out all work with reasonable professional care. However, watch repair involves inherent risks, particularly with aged, damaged, or previously repaired movements. We are not liable for pre-existing conditions that become apparent during service, or for the failure of aged components that do not form part of the agreed scope of work.

Our liability to any Client is limited to the value of the service fee paid for the specific job in question. We exclude liability for indirect loss, consequential damage, or loss of personal or sentimental value. Nothing in these terms excludes liability for fraud or for death or personal injury caused by our negligence.

10. Disclaimer

While we aim to restore timepieces to good working condition, we cannot predict the behaviour of aged mechanical components with certainty. Condition reports and timing figures provided on collection represent the state of the piece at the time of assessment and do not constitute a warranty of future performance. Clients are advised that mechanical movements require ongoing care and periodic servicing regardless of the quality of prior work.

11. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify Cogwright against any claims, losses, or expenses arising from your breach of these Terms and Conditions or from inaccurate information provided during the service intake process, including any claim that you did not have authority to submit a particular timepiece for service.

12. Termination of Service Agreement

Either party may terminate the service agreement prior to work commencing. If work has already begun, the Client is responsible for costs incurred to that point. On termination, the timepiece will be returned to the Client in its current condition.

Cogwright reserves the right to decline or discontinue a service at any time where continuation would be impractical, unsafe, or where the Client has provided materially inaccurate information.

13. Dispute Resolution

In the event of a dispute, we encourage Clients to contact us directly in the first instance at [email protected]. We will aim to resolve concerns promptly and reasonably. These Terms and Conditions are governed by the laws of Malaysia. Any dispute that cannot be resolved informally shall be referred to the courts of Malaysia with jurisdiction in Kuala Lumpur.

14. General Provisions

These Terms and Conditions represent the entire agreement between Cogwright and the Client in respect of the services described. If any provision is found to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue in full effect. Failure to enforce any provision does not constitute a waiver of that right. Cogwright may not assign its obligations under a service agreement without the Client's consent.

15. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms and Conditions from time to time. The revised version will be posted on this page with an updated effective date. Continued use of our website or services after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
